Representatives of 49 companies and research institutes came together to discuss their projects within the IT2Green funding programme and to find synergies between them. Furthermore, the accompanying research was introduced, which is going to support all IT2Green projects and evaluate their results.

For us, the projects DESI, IntelliSpektrum and AC4DC were of interest. We will see, if collaborations will be possible in future.

Trusted Cloud

Wednesday, 03/02/2011, 21:50:40

Trusted CloudOn March 1st 2011, the winners of the technology competition Trusted Cloud initiated by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) were announced at CeBIT, the digital industry's biggest, most international event. As part of a consortium, we were successful with the project TRESOR (TRusted Ecosystem for Standardized and Open cloud-based Resources), which was selected as one of 12 projects among 116 submitted proposals to be funded by the BMWi. The funding for the whole project is 4.5 million from which TU Berlin receives 1.3 million .

Abdulbaki holding the Trusted Cloud priceThe main objective of TRESOR is the development of a cloud ecosystem that consists of an open platform for cloud services and a cloud broker. The first component provides a marketplace for cloud services based on well-established standards maximizing interoperability between different cloud providers. In that way, cloud services can be easily combined and integrated into several applications leading to cost savings and decreasing dependencies, so-called lock-in effects, to certain cloud providers. The cloud broker, on the other hand, mediates, combines and allows the access to those cloud services by taking enterprise guidelines, regulations by law and security policies into consideration. Furthermore, the broker applies new concepts of location-aware service usage and data storage.

In the project, TU Berlin is represented by Deutsche Telekom Laboratories with the group Service-centric Networking and the chair IuK Management. Other partners are T-Systems International GmbH, Ubiry GmbH, Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin, Paulinenhaus Krankenanstalt e.V. Berlin and medisite Systemhaus GmbH.
